Magazine Cover

1. How it will look in certain places. (store, newsstand)
2. The color and sixes of certain things.
3. What kinds of things you're putting on the front.
4. Competition?
5. How appealing it comes off to other people.

Lytro

1. What did you see happen when you clicked on the photo?
It focuses on the main object or if you click the noise in the back it will focus on that too.

2. How does this new camera work?
It will focus on everything in the picture you want without having to use aperture and a shutter speed.

3. What do you think a photographer would have to know about to take this kind of photo (remember its a point-and-shoot, so its full manual mode, what do you need to know about)
You need to know how to get light into the picture because you no buttons to fix your aperture setting and shutter speed. You need to know how much lighting in the dark and when to actually take a picture.

4. Is it worth the money?
It can be depending on which way you look at it. But because it'll be a lot of work some people may not want to spend that much!

Tips/ Environmental Portrait/ Photography self-portrait/ Casual portrait

 TIPS
1 - Think about your motivation and emotions: Blankly staring at the camera rarely gets good results. Be silly, don’t be afraid to over-act. The worst that can happen is that you fill up your memory card with useless photos; but you might also find yourself with a proper gold-nugget of a self portrait.

2- Get Closer

3- However, taking self-portraits has several advantages: you'll always have a willing subject, and you may be able to interpret the "real you" better than others can.

Enviromental Portrait

I picked this photo because it really brings out the darkness in the back ground the girls red dress really pops in the picture.

I picked this photo because i like the way the berries are bright and it really does show the environment.

Photography Self-Portrait
Im using this picture because she looks really pretty but it still kind of shows herself.

Im using this picture because she used another picture as her face and its creative.

Casual Protrait
Marilyn looks so casual just sitting there and i love this picture if her.

Drake looks casual and relaxed.

My Plan
I plan took take a photo of myself with some help from a friend or something. I would like to shoot inside with more light like in NewTech or something but i also like the environment idea and to be able to have something scenery in the back.To make my picture successful i will go home this week and think of ideas on how i want my picture to be. I want to be really creative and get really personal with my work but i dont have many options compared to the fact that im taking it at school.

Self-Portrait / Professional Portrait

Self-Portrait Photography

For a self-portrait i think originality and uniqueness is what makes a good photo. If you just show yourself and how you are through photography it will come out great. When you just do what everyone else does its not so good. When you do things that no one else will do thats when it turns into something great.

Professional Portrait
When doing a Professional Portrait i think its best if you do something that looks good but also something that your model likes. Mostly what he or she is comfortable with. Also do things that get them out of there comfort zone too.

Myself ;

I think i want to use the self-portrait because i get to pick what i want in my photo and get to be unique what i want. I really don't have to stand a certain way like the photography wants just something that i am comfortable with and can manage to do.

Ethics in Fashion Photography

1. List the changes that were made to the model's face in the computer. (Look carefully)
Her neck was pushed up, her eyebrows were pushed up, her neck was made skinnier, and so was her face.
Some of the changes that were made to the model's face were all the distortions made to it on the computer's program. Her neck was made longer, her eyes and cheeks were bigger.

2. Is it ethically acceptable to change a person's appearance like this in a photo? Why or why not?
I believe it is not ethically acceptable to change a person's appearance because, if for example in the video, the girl's face was changed to sponsor make-up. It is going to make people believe that the product can do stuff it can't. I think that it is not fair for others to change a person's appearance even with their consent.

3. Are there circumstances in which it would be more ethically wrong to do this type of manipulation?
I think that all the circumstances are ethically wrong, it does not matter if one is less "ethically wrong" or "right".

4. What types of changes are OK, and what aren't?
Changes that are OK to do are the ones made to non-living stuff. That is because no one is actually affected by its changes.

5. Explain what you think the differences are between fashion photography and photojournalism.
Photojournalism isnt as fake of an industry, in photj beauty is the eye of the beholder, in fashion photography beauty is in the eye of the majority population.
6. What relationship does each type of photography have to reality, and how does this affect the ethical practice of each?
People look towards fashion photography as a basis of what to wear and what not to wear, affecting how people dress. Photoj can provide an in depth look on parts of society that some people are unfamiliar with, influencing a persons point of view with new knowledge.

Photo Manipulation and Ethics

The main points of the storie is that theres somethings that you cant photoshop for certain purposes. Then theres somethings that dont matter if you photoshop. The main thing they were talking about is that you cant just do whatever you want when it comes to important things.

B. I think that the kind of photo editing they were doing to those pictures were unethnical because its important to not mess with what really happened in the original picture. Especially the pictures with the missels.

A. I think this picture is unethical because it doesnt follow any rules of photography.

B. I think this picture is the least unethical because i guess you could say that it could be the rule of thirds.

National Geographical Warm-up

1. Post your favorite photo.

2. Tell me why this is your favorite photo (write at least 3 sentences)

Its my favorite picture because you really looks like time-traveling or something. On one part its kind of still and then super fast on the other. I've never really seen someone take a picture like that !

3. Think about your world, what photo would you take to submit to this photo contest?
I would need to take a picture somewhere in the world that is outdoors. Something that has its own uniqueness feel to it.

Theme parks

1. Tell me which amusement park featured in the two articles that you would like to visit and take your camera along and what about that park made you want to go there. Write at least a paragraph.

                                Six Flags, New Orleans

2. Post one photo from that park. You may use the photos from the link, or you can google an entirely new photo. I would prefer to see a photo of the park in disrepair and not a photo of it when it was still operating.

3. Think of at least FIVE other unusual places you think would be of interest to photographers. List them.
Museums, Zoo's, Trains&Subways, Warehouse, Malls, & in the streets at night.

4. Use google or another search engine to research ONE of your five places and see if anyone has already started documenting that place. If you find that someone has already started - post at least one photo of their work
.

5. Write a paragraph about why you think that it would be fun to document that location. Tell me what interests you about that place and what kind of photos you could expect to take there.
It interest me because there is always some kind of stuff going on in trains and subways. There are alot of interesting people who get on trains. People dance of trains, they just sit there listening to those big headphones, and old people get on. Just random things people don't normally think to take a picture of are the things that interest me. Even just a picture of a little girl with her mom or something could be a good picture. I don't normally want to take simple or "the usual" kind of pictures.

6. Tell me what it would take for you to go and take photos at your location. What would you need as far as equipment goes, travel plans, expenses you might encounter and what laws you would have to take into consideration to take photos at your spot.
As far as equipment i wouldn't really need much just a camera. Expenses; just enough to keep riding the train all day and night. Lastly as far as laws i would probably need permission from people to take pictures of them.

Great black and white photographers part 3

1.) What first caught your eye while looking at your photographers photos? Is there something in particular about their photos that made you want to choose them?
I like that when i look at it so interesting and looks nice with all the mist and fog in it. In the second one it just looks very dark and mysterious to where you cant even see anything.

2.) Look at those 2 photos you posted last time. Use your five senses to tell me more about those photos. Answer them on your blog.

I see a mist of fog covering the hair like really creepy woods.
I smell the rain and the very misterious smell of mud.
I hear nothing but the car passing by and the frogs croacking.
I taste the rain and the dirty air.
I feel the humid air and the sprinkled off of the leaves.

3) Finally, what would you like to create to show the world your great photographer. Ideas include, posters, power points, a blog, etc. You tell me what you would like to create so we can come up with a plan to share your thoughts and ideas about your photographer with your classmates and with the rest of the school.

I would like to create a mural of all his work put together as one. Make it visisble to everyone like on a bill board or something.

Fixed photo shoot post shoot reflection

1. What did you learn about the camera when you took these photos?
I learned that as the shutter speed gets faster the pictures get darker.

 2. What do you notice about all the photos and the way they look?
All the photos that i took aren't blurry, but they do get darker or in the beginning they're really bright.

3. Can you tell the difference between each ISO? Explain how.
Yes, because the higher the ISO the more "noise" or fuzzy it gets.

4. What does this tell you about ISOs and what it does when you change it when you take pictures.
The higher the ISO the more fuzzy or depending on the f-stop the brighter or darker the picture gets.

5. What about focus? Can you see a difference in the photos? Tell me what differences and similarities you see.
All of my photos are focused. The only thing different is depending on which ISO and which f-stop your using your photo will always be different from someone else.

6. Post the best photo you took on your blog. Make sure to label the following things: ISO, Shutter Speed, F-stop, Distance, Focal Length, Lighting.
ISO 3600 , F8.0 , shutter speed 1/60sec. , bright indoors and 8ft away ?

7. What do you need to concentrate on when you go out to shoot next time when you have to shoot in Manual setting?
Make sure that everyone knows how to change ISO , fstop and they're shutter speed. Also make sure that we concentrate a little more on time and that everyone in the group know what they're doing.

Cool Video

I like the video , maybe just that the camera was shaky and that could improve but other than that i like it !

Instagram

1. What theme that we could take here at school could we do a series of these panels to place around the school?
A school theme. Kids doing work?
2. Should we use phones only, or should we open it up to our regular cameras for those people that don't have camera phones?
Well not every phone can download the app. So yes we should be able to use cameras.
3. Where would you want to put the mural on campus?
The library , or in front of the school or even throughout the halls.

HDR

1. What do you have to do on the camera to make this type of photo?
You have to take multiple standard photographs while using exposure bracketing.
2. Look up a Canon T3 on google and tell me if it has the ability to shoot bracketed photos?
Yesss.
3. Is there a place on campus we could take a series of photos like this?
On the field
4. Do a google image search for HDR photos and find your favorite, post it on your blog, tell me why you picked that photo and then tell me what techniques (rules of photography) the photographer used.

Sim Cam

F2.8 - looks best at 1/250 of a second shutter speed, and the background is really blurry.
F4 - looks best at 1/125 of a second shutter speed, and the background is still blurry but you can see the outline of the windows on a building.
F5.6 - looks best at 1/60 of a second shutter speed, you can see the black windows but still blurry.
F8 - looks best at 1/60 of a second shutter speed, more clearer.
F11 - looks best at 1/60 of a second shutter speed, way more clearer you can see the building.
F16 - looks best at 1/30 of a second shutter speed, you can see the building and a lot of detail.
F22 - looks best at 1/8 of a second shutter speed, really clear.

The people look kind of blurry and different shutter speeds. The photographer could change the f-stop and it might help the picture and the lowest the photographer could hand-hold the camera would maybe be 1/15th of a second?...

ISO

ISO 200 :

 ISO 3200:

1. What are the advantages of shoot at a higher ISO at a sporting event like basketball or a night football game?
You could get a better shot but still have a some "noise" in it.

2. What suggestions did the author make about using a low ISO?
It could produce the highest image quality.

3. What suggestions did the author make about using a high ISO?

You could get a great shot with a high shutter speed but get some "noise" in it.

4. At the camera near you, please tell me what ISO's are available on your camera?

Auto, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200, 6400.

b) Shutter Priority - you set the shutter speed and the camera sets the aperture.
c) Manual - you set the shutter speed and aperture manually (do it yourself)

3. With the camera near you, what are the shutter speeds available to you on that camera? You will have to turn the camera on to determine this - hopefully you can figure out what setting to put the camera on to determine the answer to this question.

Africa

I absolutely LOVE these pictures. They capture the true beauty of nature and animals. I think they're GREAT and i would love to spend a day with him taking pictures and stuff.

I love all of them but if i had to say which one was in my top favorites it would be the one where there is like 10 giraffes in an open field and the sun is just shining through the clouds. It just a great picture taken. I really really like the way it came out , especially being put in black and white.

His photographs on medium-format black and white film without telephoto or zoom lenses.
While directing "Earth Song" he fell in love with the animals and land of East Africa. Over the next few years, frustrated that he could not capture on film his feelings about and love for animals, he realized there was a way to achieve this through photography, in a way that he felt no-one had really done before. He wrote "You wouldn't take a portrait of a human being from a hundred feet away and expect to capture their spirit; you'd move in close"
-He is "not interested in creating work that is simply documentary or filled with action and drama, which has been the norm in the photography of animals in the wild. What I am interested in is showing the animals simply in the state of Being."

A favorite picture as well . I mean i really like all of them.

Academic shoot reflection

1. What challenges did you encounter while trying to get the photos following the rules I set out for you?
Overall i understood the rules but when it came to taking them my mind just went blank, but i did a good job for it being my first time...

2. What technical aspects of photography or the assignment in general (focus, framing, holding the camera, etc.) did you find yourself thinking about the most? Provide a specific example of what you did to do this correctly.
I found myself thinking a lot about balance because i was trying to find a picture that equal things on each side of what could be a picture. i wanted two people on each side so that it would be the best thing to find.

3. If you could do the assignment again, what would you do differently now that you know some basic rules of photography?
I would probably try to pay attention to details in a class room to actually find framing and other rules we have.

4. What things would you do the same?
Find things that aren't so obvious to take a picture of but in a way something that people will know what exactly i was trying to show in a photo.

5. When you go out with your next set of prompts, which rule do you think will be the easiest to achieve?
Lines and Avoiding Mergers will more or less be the things i will find to be a bit easier.

6. Which rule do you think will be the hardest to capture?
Rule of thirds kind of gave me trouble just because you want something to be the main thing you see when you first look at a picture. Simplicity will be a hard one too because you want all focus on one subject and really want a plain background.

7. What rule are you still not totally clear on and what can you do to figure out what that rule is?
Framing still makes me wonder what i could do to find something really creative to capture. I may need more help on that than anything else.

Academic Shoot

Simplicity :
I took a picture of a girl in a Criminal Justice class. I didn't do my best and ill be honest. It was kind of hard to get a blank background of something so i should've showed the blue background to the right of her more to actually show simplicity. When i asked a student what their eye went to they said the paper so i could've tried to get the camera more focused on the girl because that's what i was aiming for.

Rule of thirds:
I kind of struggled on this picture too . I wanted the main subject to be Ms. Shaw but i only got more of the kids and no one is really focused on her like i was hoping. Its clear she's there because my eye goes straight to her because of the bright blue shirt she has on. I could've made her seem bigger than anything else in the picture.

Framing:
I had A LOT of difficulties with framing because i couldn't find , really , anything that showed framing. I could've done way better on focusing on the girl because i wanted her to be the main subject. I wanted to use the two people's arms as kind of a barrier. I should've done way better than this.

Balance:
The subjects are the two girls on each side of the picture to balance out the picture in a whole. Two girls both working and have there heads down match each other. I wanted to focus more on the girls and nothing else but other than that i think it could be a good picture.

Lines:
The subject is the row of students used as lines. I did okay with following the rule but this picture can always be improved. I should have taken it a different way but i just like to take it weird ways. Also i think the bright red shirts in the front kind of take away from the picture.

Avoiding Mergers :
The main subject of this picture if the girl reading the book .. It looks like the plant is coming out of her back pack which normally doesn't happen. Its clear that the girl is the main subject anybody can see that. I also could have taken it a different way maybe but overall i think it was a good picture....
